Posture Matters

Posture is how we sit or stand. Good posture means that the whole body should look straight.
Good posture is important for a healthy spine because bad posture can cause serious back problems.

The posture of some kids is getting worse, they don't have straight backs anymore because they're spending too much time with video games, computers, phones, etc. They usually lean forward and hunch over when they use technology so they slouch a lot. It might feel comfortable but it's actually having a bad effect on their spines.

I agree with the statement from the report, "the key message is to limit the amount of time you spend hunched over a keyboard and be active as often as you can".

Phoebe's Fire Alarm

One day Phoebe woke up during the night. She couldn't sleep because something was making a noise  outside her bedroom.
She went into the lounge room to try and  find out where the noise was coming from. She found it was from smoke alarm. She removed the smoke alarm from the wall and she tried to stop the beep but she couldn't do it. Then she hit the smoke alarm until it broke but it continued to still beep. Phoebe went out side and she threw the smoke alarm in the rubbish chute.
Only a few minute after that some one knocked at  her door. It was  a fireman coming to give back her smoke alarm.
Phoebe asked  the man why she couldn't stop the beep. And the man said she should reset the button. But because she had already disconneted the reset button she was unable to turn it off.
At least she will know how to stop the beep from the smoke alarm next time :)

My Easter Holidays

Hi everyone! How are you this term two?.Hopefully you enjoyed your holiday. During the school holidays nothing special happened in my holiday, because I was sick. But I still tried to make my kids happy during the break. In the first week, we visited Southgate shopping centre with Murtini and her daughter. The centre had some activities for children. One of the activities was to create an Easter basket. All my kids created an Easter basket. Even though we do not celebrate Easter  I always teach all my kids to respect   other religions. They were proud and happy because they could  make an Easter basket on their own.

On Easter Friday we played at the park. After that we are visited my mum's place at Mt.druitt to have a lunch together. We didn't do anything else. We only talked and watched Indonesia's TV channel.

During the last week of the holiday the weather was not really good, because it was raining. But I had  already promised  my kids to take them  swimming so the last day of the school holiday even though the weather was wet we went swimming. We chose Sutherland Swimming Pool because it is my kids favourite pool. Even though it is far from my place  I just wanted to make them happy. I'm very proud of my third daughter Vanesya, because she can swim in the deep pool just with floaties and without my hand in her arm. Before she was always scared of swimming even in shallow water. At last my kids were happy. They said "thanks mum for the end of our holiday. We are very happy and enjoying it at last. :)

Clean Up Australia Day

In 1989 Ian Kiernan started doing  Clean Up Australia Day.
Clean up Australia is a non profit organisation and clean up Australia day is held on the first Sunday of March.
During clean ups, people find many things like bottles, plastic bags, wallets, shopping trolleys and old fridges in their local creeks.
Australia is among the world's highest producers of waste. 80 millions plastic bags are dumped each year.
There are 2 ways you and your family can be part of Clean Up Australia Day.You can visit a designated site or choose a local spot for example a park or bushland. You can get information from the website about existing clean up sites in your area or call  1800 282 329. You need to wear a hat, sunscreen, protective gloves and old clothes as you probably will get dirty.
